  • In store: POS computers (IS4C), inventory backend system (Fannie), wired and wi-fi networks.

Merchandising Committee

The Merchandising Committee identifies and fulfills the diverse grocery needs of our community.

Based on Membership buying patterns and requests we work with our vendors to provide the fullest shopping experience possible as the Co-op grows. We take into account buying principles that adhere to our Co-op Mission Statement and strive to work with local established food co-ops, farmers, distributors, and equipment vendors.

In addition to deciding which items to carry and from whom to buy we also negotiate pricing, coordinate deliveries and payments, and manage store inventory, layout, and shrinkage.

If you are interested in helping us achieve our mission, please email us.

Member-owners may place special bulk orders directly via the Individual Member Bulk Order Form

Outreach Committee

Outreach ◊ Education ◊ Food Justice ◊ Events

The Outreach Committee has three goals:
1) to raise awareness of the Greene Hill Food Co-op in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, and Prospect Heights;
2) to ensure that the Co-op membership represents the diverse population of its surrounding neighborhoods; and
3) to address possible social, cultural, and economic barriers to joining the Co-op.

The Outreach Committee strives to meet these goals by tabling and canvassing throughout the surrounding neighborhoods, and collaborating with local community organizations and businesses.

Other Outreach responsibilities for the Co-op include managing quarterly open houses for non-members and organizing events.

The Greene Hill Food Co-op is committed to improving all peoples’ access to affordable and healthy food; to that effect, the Outreach Committee includes a Food Justice team, which focuses on privilege and inequality, barriers to food access, and developing strategies to create a more inclusive environment at the Co-op.

The Education Committee reaches out and educates the Greene Hill community about healthy and sustainable food practices and lifestyle through healthy food store tours, on-site food demos and presentations. Why be a part of our committee?

  • Connect with people of all ages in the community and share the benefits of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
  • Develop your teaching skills and experience by creating lectures, presentations and offering food demos.
  • Get your ideas heard and share your voice in a more powerful way than you could on your own.

Please contact us if you are interested in any of these efforts, or in getting the word out about the Co-op in your community!
