General Meeting March 21

Hi members, don’t forget to set your calendars for the March GHFC General Meeting:

Agenda

Each attending Co-op member may participate equally in discussions, and contribute equally to the decision-making process.

INTRODUCTION (5 minutes) 7:05PM-7:10PM

  • Meeting Orientation (1 min.) Welcome and explanation of what/who the Co-op is
  • Review of previous meeting’s activities (2 min.) Approval of meeting minutes from previous meeting (please read beforehand online)
  • Facilitator & Secretary Choice and/or Approval (1 min.) Facilitator will conduct meeting fairly and impartially, ensure that any meeting rules are followed, and will keep meeting to agenda. Secretary will take meeting minutes, act as timekeeper, and assist with meeting facilitation as needed. The minutes will later be available to all on the Website.
  • Presentation of Main Agenda and pending agenda queue (1 min.) Main agenda is prepared by the Steering Committee, based on member submissions, and published to members in advance of meeting.


COMMITTEE REPORTS (20 minutes) 7:10-7:30PM
Committees will make brief reports with the aim of including members/potential members in our process. Classifieds: committees will describe specific tasks and ongoing projects that need member help and participation.

MAIN AGENDA (80 minutes) 7:30-8:50PM

  • Sweet tooth and cooking innovators,Spoonable is coming, with delicious caramel sauces to taste and recipes to discover.  (25 mins)
  • Creating new leadership: a proposal to empower the Board to make strategic plans, move key missions forward, and create accountability. (35 mins)
  • Where are our members?  Renewed strategy from committee chairs on how to encourage delinquent members to fulfill their work requirement, shop at the Store, and recruit new members. (20 min)


OPEN FORUM (5 minutes) 8:50PM-8:55PM
Brief comments from any member of the meeting on topics not on the Main Agenda.  (Items that will require more time to discuss should be submitted as future agenda items.)

  • Gilfeteria is here: they will be passing out virgin kvass cocktails and talking about their gefilte fish product for the upcoming Passover holiday.   (25 mins)

Description
Planning Meeting to discuss the creating of a community mural at the corner of Grand Ave and Fulton Street on the back wall of the Greene Hill Food Co-op in Brooklyn. The project includes Community Workshops with Neighborhood Youth and Seniors, and will be painted in the summer of 2013.

Open Meeting, Open Floor, Open Agenda.
Please contact us for project details. Co-op members are eligible for 2 hours of work credit. Open to Co-op and Non-Co-op Members.
There will be free food.

You can enter through the gate on Clinton Ave & Flushing Ave. Please bring a photo ID and let the guard know that you will be visiting Mosaico Group (Josh’s Studio). Please let me know if you don’t have ID, and we will work out a way for you to enter. You can park out of open loading area if you will be driving, and can lock your bikes or bring them upstairs, and a short walk from the B57 or B69 buses.

GHFC Winter Party January 27!

Let’s Party!

Ring in the New Year and celebrate our store’s one-year anniversary at the Co-op’s winter gathering!

Raise a glass, have a bite, do a little dancing, and mingle with your fellow Co-op members (and potential members)—with prizes for new members who sign up that day!

This kid-friendly event will be generously hosted by Bija Kids (900 Fulton St), just a few blocks from the store. (No shoes allowed in the party space, so wear your favorite socks!)

  • Delicious vegetarian dinner by Andriana Santiago of It’s Veggie Time and homemade cookies by Co-op member, Holly Coleman. (Drink specials sold separately.)
  • Cooking demos by our own Education committee!
  • Music by ddotto, Bela Bossa and more!
  • Face painting for the youngsters!

Food Justice Meeting

Interested in privilege and inequality, barriers to food access, and developing strategies to create a more inclusive environment at the Co-op?  Then come to a Food Justice mtg!  The Food Justice Committee meets the 2nd Monday of every month at 90 Downing St Apartment 41 x st Putnam ave. (Pls grab a folding chair from the Co-op on your way!)  All are welcome.
